What Is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle form of energy healing that supports balance in the body, mind, and spirit. Originating in Japan, Reiki works with the natural flow of life force energy to encourage relaxation, emotional clarity, and overall well-being. Today Reiki is practiced around the world with both humans and animals, helping restore harmony in the body’s energetic systems.

How Reiki Works
Reiki practitioners work with the body’s subtle energy systems. During a Reiki session, gentle hand placements or energy work around the body help encourage the natural flow of life force energy. Many people experience deep relaxation, warmth, or a sense of calm as their body shifts into a restorative state.
Rather than forcing change, Reiki allows the body and nervous system to return to balance naturally. This makes it a supportive practice for emotional, physical, and energetic well-being.
Reiki for Humans
For people, Reiki can help calm the nervous system, release emotional tension, and restore a sense of clarity and balance. Many clients seek Reiki during times of transition, stress, or personal growth.
Reiki sessions with Lesley may also integrate intuitive insight, Akashic Records Guidance, Astrology, or Human Design depending on what arises during the session.
Reiki for Animals
Animals often respond quickly to energy work because they naturally live in the present moment and are highly sensitive to subtle shifts in energy. Reiki can support animals experiencing stress, physical discomfort, transitions such as a new home or barn, or emotional shifts connected to their environment.
Lesley works with horses, farm animals, companion animals, and other sensitive creatures who may benefit from energetic support.
My Approach to Reiki
Through my own experience with Reiki, I began to notice that healing with animals is rarely a one-way exchange. When I approach a session with the pure intention of supporting an animal’s well-being, something remarkable often unfolds. The energy moving through the session seems to be refined and amplified through the animal, creating a shared healing experience rather than a one-sided process.
In many cases, while I am supporting the animal, the energy that flows through the connection also brings insight, clarity, and healing back to the human involved and to me as the practitioner. Animals are incredibly intuitive partners in this process. They often participate willingly in the energetic exchange, creating a gentle and mutual circle of healing between animal, human, and practitioner.
Because of this, I love working with people and their animal companions together. These blended sessions allow both to be supported while also helping the human develop a deeper awareness of energy and connection. Teaching people how to work with Reiki themselves—so they can continue supporting their animals and their own well-being is one of the parts of this work that brings me the greatest joy.
Part of my work also takes place at my private sanctuary near the historic spiritual community of Cassadaga in Volusia County, Florida. Here, clients can experience Reiki in the presence of my own animal healers. Horses, goats, pigs, dogs, and other sanctuary animals naturally participate in the healing environment, creating a calm and grounded space where people can experience the energetic connection between humans and animals in a very real way.
Spending time with animals in a peaceful setting helps regulate the nervous system and allows the healing process to unfold more naturally. These sanctuary sessions can become deeply immersive, allowing people to receive Reiki while also experiencing how animals intuitively engage with healing energy.
Who I Work With
I work with both humans and animals — sometimes individually and often together. Reiki sessions may focus on supporting a person, helping an animal restore balance, or working with the energetic relationship between humans and their animal companions.
When people and animals participate in the healing process together, the experience can become a shared exchange of energy that deepens understanding, connection, and healing for both.
In my work I regularly provide equine reiki support for horses, as well as reiki healing for dogs, cats, goats, pigs, chickens, and other farm and sanctuary animals throughout Volusia County and Central Florida.
Each session is guided by the comfort and willingness of the animal, allowing the healing process to unfold naturally and respectfully.
What to Expect During a Reiki Session
Every Reiki session unfolds a little differently, guided by the needs and comfort of the individual or animal involved. Sessions are calm, quiet, and deeply supportive of the nervous system, allowing the body and energy field to relax and rebalance naturally.
When working with animals, the animal always leads the process. Some animals may approach the practitioner and participate closely, while others may choose to rest nearby and receive the energy at their own pace. Their willingness and comfort are always respected.
In sessions where humans and their animal companions are present together, the experience often becomes a shared exchange of healing energy. Animals are highly intuitive participants and frequently respond to shifts happening within the human as well. This can create a gentle, circular flow of healing that supports both the animal and the person at the same time.
Throughout the session, Reiki energy flows naturally to where it is most needed. Many people report feeling warmth, relaxation, emotional release, or a sense of peaceful clarity during the process. Animals often show signs of relaxation such as lowering their head, lying down, softening their eyes, or simply settling into a calm presence.
Each session is unique, but the intention is always the same: to create a safe, grounded space where healing, balance, and deeper connection can naturally unfold.

Learning Reiki
Many people who experience Reiki feel naturally curious about learning how to work with the energy themselves. During sessions I often guide people in simple ways to begin sensing and working with Reiki so they can support their own well-being and deepen their connection with their animal companions.
For those who feel called to go deeper, I offer private and small group teachings. I’m also developing an online Reiki certification program with optional in-person attunements and training. If that path resonates with you, you’re welcome to join my newsletter to be notified when enrollment opens.
